Austin doesn't have a gentle high season. It has a small number of weekends where essentially every party bus, limo and Sprinter in the metro is committed, and a lot of ordinary weekends where you can book comfortably a fortnight out.
Knowing which is which is worth real money, because the same vehicle on the same route can price very differently depending on what else is happening in town.

SXSW, both ACL weekends, F1 weekend and New Year's Eve. On these, availability runs out long before price becomes your problem. If your event lands on one, book first and plan the rest afterwards.
What peak actually changes
Availability, before price
People assume peak season means paying more. It mostly means choosing from what's left. The larger and better-equipped vehicles are committed first, so a late booking on a peak weekend often means a smaller bus than you wanted at a higher rate than you'd have paid two months earlier.
Hourly minimums
Minimums commonly rise on peak dates. A booking that would run 3 hours on an ordinary Tuesday may carry a longer minimum on an ACL Saturday. Always confirm the minimum for your specific date.
Traffic and route timing
This is the one people underestimate. During SXSW, ACL and F1 weekend, downtown street closures and congestion change what's physically possible in an evening. A four-stop route that works easily in February can be a three-stop route in March, and staging near a venue can take substantially longer. Build slack into the block.
The quiet weekends nobody books
If you have flexibility, the value sits in late January, February, and the gaps between the autumn peaks. Same vehicles, same drivers, materially better rates and your pick of the fleet.
Mid-week is the other lever, and it's underrated for bachelor and bachelorette groups already in town for a long weekend — a Thursday night crawl prices well below the Saturday equivalent. It works even better for daytime bookings: wine, brewery and distillery tours on a weekday are quieter at the venues as well as cheaper on the vehicle.
